Product Description
CD88243 Mahler/ Dvorak - Gielen, Iven, Brachmann SWR 2011
The now 83 years old Michael Gielen conducted last Friday an unusual work for
such an analytical conductor: Dvorak´s 7th symphony. The result is as one would
expect unusual, too. Something like a mixture of Boulez and the late Klemperer!
And there are Mahler´s Wunderhorn songs. Gielen has chosen all female songs and
duets plus Urlicht from the second and the last set of the fourth symphony.
Christiane Iven is a wonderful singer for these songs!
