CD96076 Cry For Us All (Robert Weede, Joan Diener)
In response to the request for some Mitch Leigh musicals, here's an audience
recording of the Broadway opening night of CRY FOR US ALL, the short-lived
musical version of William Alfred's HOGAN'S GOAT. Those who have the official
studio-recorded cast recording of this production will note that not only was
there a great deal more musical material in the score than was on the cast
recording, but there were also a number of lyric changes on the cast recording.
According to a member of the cast with whom I recently spoke, the lyric changes
were made specifically for the recording. Some of the changes were made to
remove sexual content and what was then deemed profanity, but other lyric
changes had no evident purpose and simply puzzled the cast.
