CD92790 Rafael Kubelik BR 1961
Today the Bavarian broadcast company Bayerischer Rundfunk celebrated the
fiftieth anniversary of Rafael Kubelik as chief conductor of the
"Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks".
November 1, 1961 began one of the most fertile collaborations between an
orchestra and a conductor I know. A time of mutual love and respect.
Here is how it began:
the first concert with Beethoven´s ninth symphony seems to been lost but two
subsequent concerts have survived.
The - mono - sound is quite good for the age. The applause has been cut by the
broadcast company.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
Symphonie A-Dur, KV 201;
(November 23. 1961, Herkulessaal of the Munich residency)
Antonín Dvořák:
Symphonie Nr. 9 e-Moll - "Aus der Neuen Welt";
(November 23. 1961, Herkulessaal of the Munich residency)
Franz Schubert:
Symphonie h-Moll - "Unvollendete";
(November 7. 1961, Herkulessaal of the Munich residency)
Richard Wagner:
"Tristan und Isolde",
Vorspiel und Isoldes Liebestod
(November 7. 1961, Herkulessaal of the Munich residency)
