CD81467 SEMIRAMIDE - Carnegie Hall - January 10, 1983
Further to Ariadne 10033's "Donna del Lago" (and his shout-out in his message!)
that opened that series of Marilyn Horne/Rossini operas in concert at Carnegie
Hall in 1982/1983, I would like to share the Semiramide that I feel was the best
offering of that 3-part festival.
It was supposed to have been with Montserrat Caballé and - I believe - Jesus
Lopez-Cobos, but both canceled and were replaced, respectively, by June Anderson
and Henry Lewis. To many, this is the performance that put June Anderson "on
the map", and listening to it, one understands why, although her colleagues are
also in pretty wonderful vocal form!
Enjoy!
