Product Description
CD4054 Bamfield Alissa 1965 Geneve
Another work for our world premiere collection - and two great singers
in a rare performance too.
De Banfield (born 1922 in Newcastle on Tyne and still living) composed
his last opera for Geneve were it had its world premiere on 14 may 1965.
The story is a real old English Ghost Novel, and the music, somewhere
between Pelleas, Tosca and Bluebeard's Castle, is not what -
especially - the Germans after the war would call "modern". But its
fine music for the theatre and two wonderful roles for good singing
actors.
The sound is a good broadcast, files have to be joined with HJ-Split
