Product Description
CD96041 Albert Coates & the LSO – the two Siegfried Idyll recordings
Just in time to celebrate his birthday (April 23, 1882)
Albert Coates recorded Wagner's Siegfried Idyll twice in his career,
both versions done in the acoustic era.
Columbia sides: March 11, 1921, likely done at the Petty France
studio
HMV sides: July 17, 1922, Hayes studio, Room No.1
I did these transfers back in 2006, but revisited the Columbia file
and tamped down the noise a bit more. Both files, while still in mp3
formats, have been converted from the wav files at a higher bit rate
(192kbps mono). Zip file size is about 43 MB.
